What's the best all-around work/hiking/hunting boot (no steel tips)?

i cant resist trying to answer this question. ive tried to buy boots for exactly these purposes and find you have to make sacrifices somewhere. for instance: what kind of weather are you trying to buy for? if you need something to keep your feet warm you dont want something uninsulated. on the other hand trying to wear an insulated boot in hot weather is miserable. think: jungle-rot. a nice hiking boot with vibram type soles, full leather and mesh venting would be comfortable to wear in the summer tho a little hot and long-lasting. i've worn the same boots for years (vasque fit's my feet pretty well) just resoling them when needed. different brands fit different types of feet best...best to try on different pairs and see how they fit.

in case you are wondering though, i have 3 different pairs of boots i wear most depending on the weather and how far i'm hiking, etc. heavyweight insulated hikers (salomon) for cold weather, non-insulated heavy-hikers (vasque) for backpacking, and light hikers (nike) for hiking in warm weather without a heavy pack. these are also the ones i most use for warm weather work.
