Is a scooter a good commute vehicle to college campus?

I would be driving it 3 and a half miles to my college campus and crossing a four lane road. However, I would be crossing through an intersection with a light. The road I travel on has light traffic and I have ridden my bicycle to campus on it. Knowing the risks of scootering and considering I have taken the route with my bicycle, would this be safe/ a good idea?

oh yes! be careful, of course, but a scooter is the BEST way to get around.
