Blue Leather
I dyed black over blue on a leather seat. The black rubs off! What solvent can I use to effectively restore?
This leather seat is wasted as cannot be used as user's back will be stained black especially when he/she sweats so I must restore seat to original blue color without any 'side effects' From experience what solvent is best to use?
You could try an alcohol cleaner (not rubbing alcohol) which may remove the new 'dye' without damaging the finish on the leather. Any stronger solvents will damage the finish on the leather whilst removing the black and this will then need replacing. This really is a job for a professional (as is the recolouring of leather) DIY kits rarely are sold with the correct instructions and finishes to stop this sort of thing from happening.
It is perfectly possible to recolour from blue to black but there are professional products that are required to make sure the furniture is useable.
